BAR, 13-15 December 2017 – Deputy Team Leader, Judge Maria Grazia Benedetti participated at the Regional Forum on Judicial Cooperation in Criminal Matters, held at the Hotel “Princess” in Bar. The conference was organised by the Ministry of Justice of Montenegro in collaboration with the International Development Law Organisation “IDLO” and with the support of the Government of the Republic of Italy.
The forum was attended by 35 senior representatives from the Ministry of Justice and Prosecutor’s office in Montenegro, representatives of international institutions in charge of the rule of law, and officials from Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, Italy, Serbia, Macedonia and Kosovo.
Ms Benedetti was invited to present either the Italian experience, either the EURoL II activities in the area of judicial cooperation during the session of presentations.
During the forum, participants had an opportunity to meet informally and to discuss issues of mutual interest as well as to learn more about IDLO’s programs and activities. The seminar’s programme was wide and some of the sessions addressed the legally defined structures and processes which help to ensure better cooperation on criminal matters. Practices to improve governance, transparency and accountability of legal systems were also discussed.
