PODGORICA – 3-5 December 2018 –EUROL II organised 1st Field Mission of representatives of Asset Recovery Office from Italy with the objective to present the ARO-related EU standards and institutional practices/Assessment of the state of play in Montenegro.
During the visit special focus was on asset recovery office and best practices. The Mission was aimed to enhance institutional capacities and effective enforcement of legislation concerning the fight against organized crime and corruption and asset recovery.
Through the mission, EURoL II organized a set of bilateral and plenary meetings with beneficiary institutions which are involved in financial investigations/asset recovery and management, notably with representatives of the State Prosecution, Police, Tax, Customs, FIU and State Property Management Administration. During the meetings, the ARO Italy was presented and also the best European standards in this area. Also, the participants had the opportunity to present the situation in Montenegro and exchange best practices. Special attention was on the use of date-bases by the agencies engaged of fight against organized crime and corruption and asset recovery. The mission was conducted by Italian expert Mr Manuel Artuso, Major of Guardia di Finanza, ARO Italy Director, with extensive experience and background at international level in the specific field of the asset recovery.
