The fourth seminar from the training programme in international judicial cooperation held in Podgorica

PODGORICA – 20-21 November 2018 –EUROL II in cooperation with the Centre for Training in Judiciary and State Prosecution and the Ministry of Justice, organised the seminar on the topic of International Aspects of Protection of Family Issues. The seminar covered the topic of protection of family issues and the international norms and obligation in this area. Discussions were held on obligations of Member States, Parental Responsibility and Divorce, Maintenance Obligations, the determination of jurisdiction, Regulation (EC) 2201/2003 (Brussels II bis) Regulation (EC) 4/2009 (maintenance obligations), Regulation (EU) 1259/2010 (divorce and legal separation), Recognition and Enforcement of court decisions in family related cases, Legal aid and exemption from costs.

The seminar on International Aspects of Protection of Family Issues, is the last out of four planned seminars for 2018 from the Training Programme in the area of International Judicial Cooperation which will contribute to the improvement of knowledge of judges, prosecutors and police officers in the implementation of EU instruments in the area of international judicial cooperation, which will be an obligation for Montenegro upon the accession into EU.

Ms Garlatti Italian Judge, President of the Court for Minors from Trieste is the EURoL II expert leading the seminar, while the Montenegrin Judge, Ms Popović presented the national legislative framework, practical cases and problems. In addition, practices of international assistance and case studies have been presented and discussed with participants.
