The eighth seminar from the Training Programme on International Judicial Cooperation: “International Labour Law/Aspects of Employment Discrimination” held in Podgorica by EURoL2

PODGORICA – 24th – 25th September 2019 – EURoL 2 in cooperation with the Centre for Training in Judiciary and State Prosecution (JTC), organised a two-day workshop on the topic of International Labour Law/Aspects of Employment Discrimination. The workshop was held in the premises of JTC for a group of 20 participants: judges and advisors.

Workshop covered the topic related to International Labour Law/Aspects of Employment Discrimination: General introduction on EU regulatory acts: nature, principles, minimum standards in working and employment conditions, transposition and adaptation of internal laws to European legislation; International Labour Organization conventions and recommendations on labour standards; National legislation regulating labour-law issues, protection from discrimination in labour, substantive and procedural; International, EU and ILO non-discrimination legislative framework in employment and labour relations, access to employment, conditions of employment and access to vocational guidance.

Ms Maria Grazia Benedetti, Eurol 2 Deputy Team Leader, as well as Mr Srdjan Simovic, advisor at the JTC, welcomed all the participants, underlining the importance of the trainings related to the International Judicial Cooperation and, in particular, the active cooperation of Montenegrin institutions  with the EU colleagues and EU institutions in implementing the relevant standards. Furthermore, in the opening remarks, Ms. Benedetti  expressed gratitude to JTC for providing the national expert and the participation of national and international experts together.

Speakers at the training were Mr Francesco Perrone, Labour Judge, Court of Padova in Italy and Ms Vesna Simović Zvicer, professor at the Faculty of Law, University of Montenegro. Practices of international assistance and case studies have been presented and discussed with participants by the international and national experts.

The seminar on International Labour Law/Aspects of Employment Discrimination is the fifth out of 6 planned seminars for 2019 (previously in 2018, four trainings were held) from the Training Programme in the area of International Judicial Cooperation in civil and criminal matters, which will contribute to the improvement of knowledge of judges, prosecutors and police officers in the implementation of EU instruments in the area of international judicial cooperation, supporting  Montenegro in the process of  the accession to EU.
