Expert Mission on Asset Recovery and Asset Management in Montenegro

PODGORICA, 22-26 January 2018 – EURoL II organised, in close coordination with the Ministry of Interior and the EU Delegation, the Expert Mission on the Asset Recovery and Asset Management System in Montenegro. The aim of the mission was to review the current processes of Asset Recovery and Asset Management with a special focus on financial investigations as a fundamental tool for the identification, tracing, seizure and confiscation of criminal assets as well as on the management and assignment of criminal assets.

The mission was organised within the Component 2 of the Project: Enhanced institutional capacities and effective enforcement of legislation concerning the fight against organised crime and corruption, particularly for financial investigations and the coordination mechanisms among the law enforcement institutions.

The mission took place from 22 – 26 January in Podgorica, and it included a number of meetings with members of EUROL II project team, Programme Manager of the EU Delegation to Montenegro, as well as with the members of the respective institutions involved in the asset recovery and asset management system (in particular: Police Directorate (Ministry of Interior), State Audit Institution, Tax Administration, Administration for Preventing Money Laundering and Terrorism Financing, Central Bank of Montenegro, Lovcen Bank, Customs Administration of Montenegro Ministry of Finance of Montenegro, Cadastral of Montenegro, State Property Administration).
