PODGORICA –25th – 26th June 2019 – EUROL II, in cooperation with the Centre for Training in Judiciary, organised the seminar on the topic of International Aspects of Protection of Child Rights. The training was attended by 20 judges from basic and high Courts and covered the topic of protection of children and the international norms and obligations in this area. Discussions were held on UN Convention on Child Rights, Hague Convention on Civil Procedure, European Convention on Recognition and Enforcement of Decisions concerning Custody of Children and on Restoration of Custody of Children, Hague Convention on the Protection of Children in Intercountry Adoption; Hague Convention on the Civil Aspects of International Child Abduction. The training on International Aspects of Protection of Child Rights, is the fourth out of 6 planned seminars for 2019 ( previously in 2018 we had four trainings) from the Training Programme in the area of International Judicial Cooperation which will contribute to the improvement of judges’ knowledge on International Judicial Cooperation, including a better understanding of EU legislative framework.
Ms Garlatti Italian Judge, President of the Court for Minors from Trieste is the EURoL II was the expert leading the seminar, while the Montenegrin Judge, Mr Radonja Radonjic, Judge from High Court in Podgorica presented the national legislative framework, practical cases and problems. Also, the participants had the opportunity to learn about what UNICEF is doing in this area through the presentation of Ms Nela Krnic, Child Protection Officer, UNICEF Country Office in Montenegro. In addition, practices of international assistance and case studies have been presented and discussed with participants.
