1st Steering Committee

PODGORICA, 18 October 2017 – The first Steering Committee meeting for the EU Support to the Rule of Law II project was held on 18 October 2017 at the EU Info Centre in Podgorica.
The project EU Support to the Rule of Law II was launched in April 2017, with the aim to support Montenegrin efforts to enhance efficiency of judiciary and increase capacities for the fight against organised crime and corruption. As the implementation of the project requires a joined up approach across relevant institutions as well as the creation of mechanism to ensure clear decision making and effective strategic communication, the Steering Committee was established during the inception phase of the project. It is consisted of representatives of beneficiary institutions and tasked with setting strategic priorities for the project; overseeing the implementation of activities; and adopting reports on the progress of the project.
The first meeting of the Steering Committee was held with the presence of Montenegro’s government representatives and beneficiaries as well as the European Union Delegation staff and representatives of relevant international rule of law projects currently implemented in Montenegro. Overall, the Steering Committee welcomed the initial progress made by the EURoL II during the inception phase and discussed the content of the Inception Phase Report and Work Plan. The discussion also touched upon the overall cooperation between stakeholders, the donor coordination and the next steps in the implementation of EURoL II.
